Dynaco (Dynakit) PAS-M Tube Preamplifier Standard PSU "Ready to Ship"

Our "ready to ship" units are available for purchase as they are completed. We use premium components and brands which are proven top performers. We "pick and choose" the components, then build a great sounding preamp with them.

When we are sold out of "ready to ship" units, the photos shown are of the previous unit we offered and sold. New photos and details are uploaded when the next unit is completed and being offered for sale. You will see the "Add to Cart" button when the unit pictured is actually available.

The PAS-M tube preamplifier has updated features and utilizes modern components. It presents in classic style while delivering incredible sound. You'll get that sought-after tube warmth and richness that you won't find with solid state preamps. The Dynaco PAS-M is the best of both worlds- vintage charm and contemporary performance.

Set up for high impedance tube amplifiers (470K - like the ST-70 & ST-35)

This PAS is crafted with quality components. All housed in a freshly minted Dynakit chassis and cover, with an new aluminum faceplate and solid aluminum knobs.

Original PAS circuit on new high quality circuit boards.

Audio grade film capacitors.

High quality carbon film and metal film resistors.

Classic Style Tube Rectification.  A 12X4 rectifier Tube is included. Diodes now serve the function of the obsolete selenium rectifier. Metal film resistors are utilized in the power supply.

New 30-20-20-20 Multi-section filter capacitor

AC mains are fused to protect the transformer.

The Dynaco PAS-M boasts an ultra low noise floor, crystal-clear audio with superior detail and imaging, and a pleasantly warm, sparkling timbre absent in many modern designs.

The selector switch is a modern 6 position type:
The rear panel has jacks for 5 line level inputs and one phono input for a MM (moving magnet) type turntable and there's a nice phono ground post. The nomenclature printed on the front panel at the selector still reflects the original designations and do not match up with the new selector and input arrangement on the back panel. (See the photo in the listing for a visual representation that will help clarify further).

Operation however is logical, simple and straightforward. Phono is now located at the far left location labeled (special) the remaining positions now simply follow a clockwise rotation and match the order of the new rear panel. Starting at phono (special) and rotating to the right you have (Aux/CD) where tape head is located then (Aux/MP3) where phono is labeled, then (Aux/Tuner) where it says FM-AM, then (Aux1) at the position marked FM-MPX and finally (Aux2) is the position labeled spare. 

NOTE: Due to limitations of available selector switches that will fit this chassis, there is no tape loop or tape monitor function. You will not be able to use this preamp for recording. This preamp is designed for playback only.

The unit has a brand new volume control, balance control, new bass and treble controls and new switches.

The loudness switch is functional. The filter switch, tape monitor and the stereo blend control circuit were eliminated. (dummy fixtures are installed at the tape monitor and blend control locations, they're simply there to hold the knob and fill a void, they are for aesthetic purposes only). This preamplifier delivers a no-nonsense signal that is free from distortion, ideal for capturing the music's original sound.

One AC accessory outlet is installed on the rear.

Every piece of this preamp is new - this is not a rebuild, it is a brand new modernized version of the original PAS and sounds awesome.

The Dynakit PA211 power transformer is brand new and wound to operate from a standard 120V-125V outlet. (no voltage reducer necessary)

There's a brand new power cord and the pilot lamp is an adjustable LED sitting behind a genuine NOS Dynaco amber pilot jewel.

Fully tested and burned in for 24 hours.

It's simple to operate. It sounds super smooth and very musical, just like it should, it's absolutely fantastic.
